Released in 1985 as a breakout hit for the all-female band Klymaxx, “I Miss You” is a quintessential 1980s power ballad written by keyboardist Lynn Malsby. A departure from the group’s usual upbeat funk style, the track features a synth-heavy arrangement and a soulful lead vocal performance by Joyce “Fenderella” Irby. It became a massive crossover success, peaking at number five on the Billboard Hot 100 and ultimately ranking as one of the top songs of 1986.
